Every Painting Starts With A Sketch
Drawings I have discovered are something more than a photograph. It lends an intimate touch from an observational viewpoint, to give the viewer a personal ‘being there “feeling. In a few of the sketches, I have included part of myself and my sketchpad. After finishing and viewing the drawing myself, I realizes there was a very kinetic feel. As opposed to looking at a photographic penciled rendering, I was now looking through my own memory’s eyes; feeling as if I was returning to the scene of the time, watching the drawing and looking at its progression and allowing a corporeal Déjà vu’.
The sketch...a capturing of the essence of a scene looking through the lenses of ones cameric eyes. It might take pages of words for a writer to describe what he/she wants you to see, but a penciled portrayal, a visual representation...a drawing, is truly worth the proverbial thousands of words. It allows the viewer to peer into the world of perceived reality and create a mental dialogue about what they are looking at or wander into what they think they see and allow imagination to fly on the wings of a personal fantasy of travel destinations. Each setting is a book in itself, a story of wonderment and questions of why or where and ideations of dioramic completions. It is really this traveler’s odyssey into his neophyte approach to art, from the very first line on paper to an abundant feeling of personal fulfillment. All of the art images displayed herein are one of a kind, and will not be found anywhere else.
“ A drawing, is simply a line going for a walk.”
-Paul Klee
